Willowtree Riding Establishment offers riding lessons on a wide range of horses and ponies.
Young and nervous riders especially catered for.
The riding school was established in 1959 and many thousands of local people have learned to ride and look after
horses over the last half century at Willowtree. Some have gone on to keep their own horses, or become involved
professionally with riding or caring for horses.
The
school was situated on the last remaining part of Burnt Ash Farm at a time when horses were fast disappearing from the urban
scene. The aim was to foster, especially among youngsters, an understanding of, and respect for, horses. Starting
with only a few ponies, the school can now cater for complete beginners and keen improvers in a covered arena.
We are
licensed by the London Borough of Lewisham, and approved by the Association of British Riding Schools and the British
Horse Society.
For safety and welfare purposes we have a minimum rider age of four years, and
a maximum rider weight of 12 stone. Due to our location we cannot offer riding off the premises, and there is no jumping.
